Bacon, eggs, toast and coffee at our campsite. Drove through Moab to the Islands in the Sky
section of Canyonlands National Park; a 50 mile drive.
At the Visitors’ Center we self oriented, checking out the
various displays, and watched a movie that explained how the Canyonlands NP was
formed, millions of years ago. Leaving
the Visitors’ Center we followed the only road in the park to the trail to
Upheaval Dome, a strenuous 2 mile round trip hike that provided incredible
views with every step. Returning to our
cars more exhilarated than sweaty, we then drove on to two other viewing spots
for more spectacular views of the Canyons along the Green and Colorado rivers.
We returned to Moab for a great Mexican dinner at El Charro
and then drove back to our campsite at 7:30 pm, with just enough light to
negotiate the scary turns along Cane Creek Canyon.
Another wonderful day in paradise that ended with a campfire
under the stars!
