Posing in front of Stan the Man
barbecue shrimp with grits and corn...yummy!
A "Worlds Fair Eclair" at Cyrano's...terrible, we shared and didn't finish even 1/2...our only bad food in St. Louis...we used to sneak out for these after dinner when parents lived here
After breakfast at our campsite, we headed for the Jefferson
Memorial in Forest Park which is run by the Missouri Historical Society. The main building was built for the Worlds Fair
and it is one of the few that wasn’t torn down.
As a kid, I visited the museum on multiple occasions with school field
trips or family outings. I always loved
it. We spent two hours touring their
major exhibits which covered the 1904 Worlds Fair, a history of civil rights in
St. Louis, and a collection of panorama photos reflecting the history of St.
Louis. In the main hall, there’s a
replica of Lindbergh’s plane, The Spirit of St. Louis. It’s always a thrill to see how tiny it is an
imagine spending 33 hours flying it across the Atlantic. That’s courage!
Leaving the museum we headed to Busch Stadium for a
Cardinals game against the Reds. I
bought tickets a couple of weeks ago from the Cardinals’ website for only $46
each. We were in the sixth row behind
the on deck circle. Amazing seats and
fortunately they were in the shade for the whole game. It was 93 degrees today!
Parking was also pretty reasonable compared to Fenway and
especially Gillette. We paid $40 and
parked right next to the stadium
This was my first time in the new Busch Stadium, and I was
really impressed! The game was exciting
and we watched the scoreboard constantly since the Sox were also playing an
afternoon game. Both my teams won!
After the game we head back to Russells on Macklind for a delicious
dinner. Our waitress recognized us so we
gave her a bigger tip and left with some goodies for breakfast tomorrow.
Happy to see you're enjoying dessert.
